viliv has made a setting on the format as below:
- NTFS format for HDD version
- FAT 32 format for SDD version (32G SSD)
- FAT 32 format & NTFS format for 64G SSD XP version. (32G OS region for FAT 32, 32G storage space for NTFS)
- NTFS format for 128G SSD Vista version.
It is a known issue with Windows XP that formatting a solid state drive as NTFS can cause the hard drive to randomly lock up. All of tested SSD have the same problem under NTFS format. Even you can find the same thing on Dell mini 9, which is installed in SSD.
So, it is not recommended if you are planning on running Windows XP. If you are planning to upgrade the OS to Windows Vista or Windows 7, formatting the drive to NTFS should not cause any problems.
